I already received a great deal of help from some of you guys on my south Texas trip and it was very much appreciated. This being the case, I may be pushing my luck asking for help with another trip, but oh well, here goes.
I’m planning on herping the Dallas/Fort worth area either the first or second week of April. I plan on starting along the Brazos River in Palo Pinto County in hopes of finding the Brazos water snake. After that it’s kind of up in the air. A few snakes I’m hoping for are: the broad-banded copperhead, western diamond-back rattlesnake, western massasauga rattlesnake, and a Texas patch-nosed snake. I would be willing to drive a bit further for a chance at a Louisiana milk snake or a Desert Kingsnake.
I picked this area not just for the Brazos water snake but also for it’s diversity of herps and it’s close proximity to home (only eight or so hours); unfortunately though I’ll be herping blind as I have no previous experience with this area. If any of you guys have had any experience herping this area that I may benefit from I’d be forever in debt. Of coarse if there are any herpers in the area that would like to get together for a day or two in the field that would be great also.
For those of you that may not know me, I should mention that I have no interest at all in collecting anything and I do my best to disrupt habitats as little as possible.
Thanks a ton for your consideration,
Mike
