wax worm addict

ruhroh Mar 13, 2006 01:10 AM

So I tried my best not to get my gecko addicted to wax worms...but slowly he has stopped accepting anything else...he won't flinch when crickets or mealworms are in his tank...but a wax worm gets his attn really fast(I just put one in there to check to see if he'd want to eat it and he tried but I took it out). What can I do? How long is ok to try to starve him so he'll eat other things.

My gecko is about 6 inches head to end of tail(haven't weighed him) I've had him for about a month and a half. He has been a fairly picky eater since I got him. I have a large wooden display cage that goes from 92(surface temp on one side) to 70 on the cold side of the tank.

so you've been feeding him every other day? I wouldnt go more than a week. Even better, offer as many kinds of food as possible. Maybe try some butterworms, silks, or roaches and see if one of those wont spark his appetite. If he's big enough, a small pinky could satisfy his fat craving and still fill him up. Good luck!
