suspected amoeba-infection

I'm verry worried about my young garter snake!
She (or he, the sex has not been determened yet) has got a slightly swolen cloaca, and has regurgetated one of her pray this afternoon (earthworm). I also noticed some unusual behavior: she lay streched out on the floor of her terrarium, held her head slightly off the ground and made movements with her head as if she was trying to swallow something... i dont know if i'm making the right diagnosis and there's no reptile-vet within 40 miles of my hometown. :-s i was thinking about trying treatment with metronidazol, but this drug has to be verry carefully dosed..

If you havn't done so already, drive the 40 miles and consider yourself lucky it's not farther.

ps, your snake likely needs a whole lot more than metronidazole.
