Bloodred finally shed, disappointed : (

HerpZillA Mar 13, 2006 03:36 PM

OK, I got this girl a few weeks ago, I knew nothing to great, I like hypos anyways. She finally shed. I was hoping for a bit more color match.

But bloodred people you tell me, she is about 30", never really measured, but that is close, will she diffuse more? Well I know she will, I guess I'm asking to what degree. I only had 1 adult hypo. And I did not see her as a baby, so these inbetween years are new to me. Belly is red, a tiny bit darker near her tail.

She eats like a PIG, maybe if she grows well this year she might be up to size next year?

Any opinions welcome, good, the bad, and the ugly!

than a homo Bloodred IMO. Especially from the belly view. Beautiful snake though.

I bred my hypo to a het, baby phenotype was all over the spectrum. But I understand would you mean about "het". Although it applies differently to BR's. She does not have much in black saddles, but a wider variety in color than I was hoping to see. Shes a great eater, I may even try smaller rat pups?

Even as a het, $40 was not bad. Now just what would I breed her with next year? Maybe by then I'll find a male? Or try her with something?

Any ideas there? BR's are used in so many morphs it seems, I can not keep them straight in my head.
I wonder what it would do to a blizzard?

Thanks for the FB

I'd definitly get a male Bloodred to test to see if she is het or homo. There are more and more Blood morphs out there all the time, Blood Lav, Anery A Blood (Granite), Pewters, Amel Bloods, Blood Stripes, Anery A Blood Stripes, etc.... Pic one that you like!

I got my bloodred as an adult, so I did not see it as a baby. I read that bloodreds continue to change in color most of their lives, or the better part of it. Could not tell you how accurate that info is, though.

Nice Bloodred. Right now I'm debating on hypo bloods from KL, or hypo stripes that someone else has? Tough call, prefer the stripes, maybe try to get them to go vanishing? But I know Kathy's are nicer, but not stripes.

Here's a picture of my larger '05 oldstyle bloodred female. She had just shed in this pic. She started out with a lot of grey diffusion on her sides, and just gets redder with each shed.

Some have more diffusion than others, but the more diffusion as a hatchling, the more diffusion you will have. This girl's mama is all red, no sign of any saddles. But then, the mom is an F1 from wild.

That looks like the 05 that got loose in my house. Although it had a bit more silver on the sides, but not the silver head.

Just not to many people hav had a lot of bloods from babys to adults to compare differences first hand. Kathy Don and Rich I guess.

When I first picked her up I thought she was a male. I thought cool I can eventually play with a number of female combos, but she probed female.

Thanks for the help.
