Anyone going to or familiar with the Northern Berks Reptile Show in Hamburg, PA?? It's this Saturday. I'm planning on going & hopefully buying a Uro. Are uros pretty common at these shows?? Or is predominately loaded with vendors selling snakes & turtles?? The reason I ask, Hamburg is over a 2 hour trip for me (one way) & I want to find out what I can before going.

Not a great show for uros. The few that are there are wc and usually in very poor condition. Last show there were malis and four or five ornates. The ornates were priced at $175 each, which is super cheap. I have a lot of experience with wc uros and I wouldn't touch them. They were totally dehydrated. Of course that particular retailer always has poor quality/condition animals. If you want venomous, bearded dragons, leopards, corn snakes, boas, pythons, dart frogs or a few other commonly bred herps you are OK at Hamburg. For the less commonly cb, like uros, stay away. Go to lindsay Pikes site for malis or ornates he has nice quality (the malis I got from him are super). Also try doug Dix at Deerfern farms. To be honest, uros are better off bought from internet sites than at shows. At least at present. Unless you can get to a show that a true uro breeder attends you will get worse condition uros than taing the gamble on kingsnake (even with wc). Spend the extra money on shipping (save it from gas and entrance fees not spent at Hamburg) and buy from one of the better known uro breeders. In a year or two, besides beardies and geckos, you will be able to buy from me at White Plains and sometimes Hamburg...but I'm not quite ready with my uros for sales at shows yet. (and of course they will be great quality, lol). So you will need to go elsewheres for good quality.

i just came here to check the post i made on that show just a week or so ago! boy was i surprised to see another post about it! i am supposed to be buying a male mali uro from trina there but besides that i am not sure about the uros there. but since there are always new vendors i dont think its right to judge how you think the uros will be by the ones from the last vendors...just my opinion. i will hopefully be getting a table for one of the show around here(i live in york pa...over 2 hours away.)and i consider my uros and other herps to be in good condition and wouldnt want some1 to think i have bad specimens becuase other ppl do... once again just my opinion.
any way... i hope i will see u there, if u see me just say hey! (i will prolly have a black tank top with black widows on it...and baggy pants as always, prolly my spikes 2....trust me tho...i dont bite! )
