Does anyone use vision cages?

drykilllogic83 Mar 13, 2006 05:53 PM

I currently have a two story cage that I made myself but I am in a stage of my life that I must move like every year and that cage is a not fun to take apart and move. I am wondering if anyone uses these vision cages for TEGUS and what they think about them.

I use a vision for my young tegu but I dont think it would work for an adult. the substrate dam is too small (about 2 inches deep)and the cypress mulch or aspen always falls onto the glass door track making it hard to open and close properly.Perhaps if you modified it with a larger dam it might work but for the price you could build a really nice cage that works more efficiently..I do like my visions for the snakes and smaller lizards though..

I use vision cages for my uromastyx and my tegu. My tegu is about 3.5 ft. and he's in a 6 x 3 x 2. He gets plenty of free roam time and a soak every week and seems pretty comfortable in it. I mist 2-3 times a week to keep the humidity and plan on building him a bigger cage in the future once I'm settled in at my own pad.

I went with the visions because I'm a student and I've moved around during the past couple of years from apartment to apartment. They are pretty light and the moving I was able to do myself. here's a pic.

you could see that i put in a dam to prevent the substrate from getting on the tracks. it does a pretty good job. since i use orchid bark, it's pretty easy to brush off every week and isn't much of a problem.
