retained eyecap cont'd

Okay so i tried soaking her and then placing her in a damp pillowcase...ive tried taking a q-tip and mineral oil and gently rubbing it off....i dont know what else to do.... i got her before december from a rescue and i thought that she had a retained eyecap but the rescue said that she didnt.... please any help at all...i dont have the money to take her to the vet because im in the process of getting a job so no money yet (I'm only 17 so im trying my best)... if there is anything i could possibly do here to remove it please please help!!

Hey Katie,
First of all, don't stress out over it! I just had a big female of mine shed hours ago. I didn't notice she had a retained eye cap from her previous shed, until a week or so ago. I sprayed her cage daily, keeping it very humid and it simply came off with this shed.

It will more than likely come off with the next shed. I would not even mess with it. It will just stress her out.

Well i got her before christmas and i thought she had one b/c it looked asthough there was air under it and no she shed again and it looks worse and has a little wrinkle to it...i didnt do anything the first time b/c i wasnt positive but now i am

I would wait until she sheds again and look at the shed itself to see if the caps came off. The retained eyecap is not going to cause a problem.
