"Glow before they go"

JDouglas Mar 13, 2006 08:55 PM

How many of you have noticed the "glow before they go" that is mentioned on the Markus Jayne website when breeding your balls? I have seen it happen with a few of my female balls and a couple have been very drastic almost appearing ghostly. Here is a pic of a female we bred to an albino that has the glow...

This female was also bred by and albino and she had the glow and will be laying soon!

Hi,

That is the telltale sign (in my collection anyway) that a female is going to produce eggs. Of course its variable, but all of my gravid females get ghostly during their cycle. Mine usually start to pale out about a month before ovulation.

I notice this lightened color as well in my females approaching ovulation. It's a good indicator of upcoming ovulation, in my opinion.

Some of mine do and some don't. Some are drastic, some are not.

I had a friend over for dinner ( No, I do not go by the name Hannibal Lector ), and we discussed the same topic. Apparently there is an ontogenic change that occurs prior to ovulation. I will check out Markus' site. This is awesome! IF I get the time will post pics of my girl as well ( before and after ).

It surprises me this has not been discussed in more detail. Fascinating!

with my Irian Jaya Carpet pyhtons as well. I would be most pythons have this color change prior to ovulating.

Hopefully this time next year I will know from experience. I just picked up a new male GQ IJ from Mr. Caponetto. I have a female from his 04' GQ x WC clutch to pair him with.

How are your IJ projects going this year? eggs soon?

JDouglas Mar 14, 2006 10:50 PM

I should have two clutches this year.

I didn't catch Jasmine last year - but this year - I caught Jayne glowing - she is pretty normal looking - but man when she was glowing she was gorgeous - she glowed through ovulation - now a couple of days away from laying she looks pretty normal again.

Glowing:

Ovulation:

T minus 3 days and counting

LOL - Thank you!

And you can tell Jayne - yes - kind of.

She was Normal Female 2 for most of the year - but then we mated her with Tarzan - thus she got the name - but I didn't think she was a plain Jane so I borrowed Jaynes spelling (I hope she doesn't mind) its much more exotic!

I noticed 3 glowed out of 5 girls that have layed or are going to lay soon. Glow before they go is very true!
