A few Southwestern GA finds

Horridus Mar 14, 2006 09:41 AM

Large Canebrake male found active under tin near an abandoned gas station

Intergrade Cottonmouth (in situ) allowed a very close approach for a small one

Melanistic Eastern Hognose found crossing a paved road late morning....would not complete the typical defensive behavior and feign death, guess he felt sticking neck spreading was a better way to go....

Another Large Canebrake, this one found under tin at the same spot with a yearling that had recently fed and was out crawling and three adult copperheads

And from last weekend a Scarlet King found near the church in the background, an Eastern Diamondback (one of two adults found under tin), and a Yellow Ratsnake found prowling under a bridge

What camera/lenses do you use? The close up of the cottonmouth has great depth of field.

I use a Nikon Coolpix 5700 and have little to no idea how to use it! I shot 48 photos on the trip and got about 15 I liked...the thing has the goods to produce some nice shots with the a knowledgeable user.....unfortunantly I'm using it, thanks for the compliment though : LOL

...take a bazillion pics, keep the best & dump the rest! Of course, if you only took 48, and out of those, you got 15 including the AWESOME shots you posted, you're a better photographer than you think!!!

Thanks, but I think it's more of a "blind squirell" Thing LOL
Great shot BTW
