Mouth Rot Question?

Hoopy Jul 28, 2003 11:30 AM

Hello all,

I recently received a big female ball that I think has mouth rot or a respitory infection of both. I am taking her straight to the Vet this afternoon. I am wondering if you can infect other ball pythons in my collection? I have her in a rack system by herself, but am wondering if you can still get others sick?

A good resource is the book Ball Python Manual....

The best thing to say would be wash hands before and after dealing with ANY of them, until the condition has changed for at least a week. As for being AR (anal retentive), just to avoid any mistakes, I would at least put a Post It as a reminder....

I'm not sure about either being contagious. It may depend on the type of infection. However, I would quarantine all new animals anyway. This protects "you" and your animals from both seen and unseen ailments.
