Awww, he's ok! Nice one Kerby, still on my list. Got a glossy from Brewster county, Texas last year when I found the white and black splendy. Need to key it to see if it's a Kansa or Texas. Eats like a pig! Went straight on mice.

from Yavapai County.

Most Glossy Snakes will take small mice, but I did catch a striped one in 1992 or 1993 and it would only eat lizards...so I gave it away. Last year someone found a DOR striped Arizona Glossy on the same road and took a pic.

Would love to see another pic of a longnose. I just adore this one. Had planned to let it go, but got attached.

Kerby... Mar 14, 2006 11:14 PM

Awesome, intense red on this one.

Those are very nice looking, Kerby! I live in Texas and have only seen one, haha! I know there are a bunch here but I haven't run across them as I thought I would. Were they found at night or during the day?

The ones we found in New Mexico were found during the day flipping. The ones in Arizona were found during the summer on the roads at night.

I had to go to the valley today, (Brownsville area south Texas) for work and was hoping to see some on the night drive home. Only saw one dor bullsnake. I guess it is still early yet. I usually see them and cay eyed snakes during March-April by the tons.

Nice glossy! Find 'em down on 77 South between Kingsville and Raymondville soon. They are very calm snakes. Kansas or Texas?

dawnrenee2000 Mar 14, 2006 10:52 PM

The glossy was caught in Alamagordo, New Mexico in 2004. I dont know why they arent more popular he is a real sweety. This longnose was found on the same trip. Again a wonderful snake as well! Great Pet.

bluerosy Mar 14, 2006 09:43 PM

I don't undertand why glossys are not more popular. I bred them a couple seasons and nobody was really interested. The babies ate pinkies (some t/f from the start)grew to be fat and better looking than wildcaughts. They made quite good captives, similar to a cornsnake. Actually nicer than corns. Go figure(?)

antelope Mar 14, 2006 10:00 PM

They have always done very well from me and never a bite or musk! Go figure. I like 'em! That's a great looking baby!

Are those from California? Do you have pics as adults? Are those the really light ones when adults?

Thanks

Kerby...

bluerosy Mar 15, 2006 08:29 AM

Yes they were the really light ones from different calif locales. Unfortunatly I dumped the pics from my computer a while back. Those three pics are all that I have left. No adult pics, sorry. Just goes to show whenever i delete pics I think I will never need them and yet there always seems to be a reason to keep all pics.

I have found that taking pics of all the neonates produced will always be traced since head markings stay the same. Much like a fingerprint. Can come in quite handy if you have the space.

dawnrenee2000 Mar 14, 2006 10:53 PM

yes, I think they would be great pets, but I guess they dont come in enough fashion colors.

dudifusmaximus Mar 14, 2006 11:54 PM

Coastal Glossy.

tspuckler Mar 15, 2006 08:49 AM

I found a couple desert glossys last year on 4th of July weekend in the Las Vegas area. I'm still looking for my first live long-nose (seen plenty of roadkills). Kerby, thanks for posting all those long-nose pics - those are great!

Can't wait to go this year...soon....

I also caught a Long-nose in my rodent room last year along with a few cal kings. They get a free meal out of the ordeal before I release them back OUTSIDE of my rodent room LOL
