Hatchlings still not eating........>>>

Cleopatra Jul 28, 2003 11:49 AM

Pixie is uninterested in food still, and today is the 6th day since she hatched. Katrina, today being the 5th day since hatching, showed interest in the food, but was striking with her mouth closed and hissed at the mealies when i put it too close. i'll try again tonight.
Well, Pixie will be going to a new home at the end of August provided she is eating well and gaining weight. she is going to a good owner who will take good care of her i am sure (she is an aberrant so i am selling her for $20). its kindof sad tho, i haven't had her for more than a week and i already know she will be leaving me so soon. Katrina will be staying with me. i need to type up a list of items for Pixie's new owner as well as a basic care sheet.
just thought i'd give you an update on what has been happening.

I had the same problem with my first hatchling. What I did that worked very well was: Cut a mealie in 1/2 and with tweezers hold the uncut end of one of the halves. Squeeze the mealie a little so that the guts come out slightly and put that in the baby's face. Once my baby got a taste of the mealie guts on her mouth she immediately opened up and ate the it.

Yep, that trick worked for me to get mine to eat a mealie but they just arent interested in mealies. Crickets on the other hand they like chasing around everynight and have no prob eating as many as ill give them.
