Moroccan Toad

Hi,

I'm Jess. I just recently purchased a Moroccan Toad as a pet. I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about this paticular species or were I can find some info about them. I really can't find anything online just toads in general. I know I can feed them crickets, meal worms, and wax worms. Is there anything I should not feed them? How about plants?

I have it in a 10 gal tank with a ceramic log, 3 fake plants for hiding a water dish deep enough for him to submerge in. And a heat lamp that keeps the tank about 70-80 F* on one side. The humidty stays right about 60%. I also had recently purchased a small venus fly trap. My boyfriend and I thought it would be a good idea to keep it in the tank because the heat and humidty are correct. Plus it would probably get more insects this way. As substrate I am using a producut called "Eco Earth: Compressed Coconut Fiber Expandable Substrate."

Should I take the fly trap out? And also during the last couple of days I havent been able to keep the humidty up. It keeps droping past 60% to just above 55%. I keep spraying the heck outta the substrate but it gets to between 60%-5%. Is there an easier way to keep it moist? I added more soil thinking this might help. I added twice as much as I had currently so that the fly trap is completly embedded (left it in the plastic container) and the water dish is too. The substrate requires 3-4 liters of water and it expands to 7-8 liters. I put in 4 liters of water.

So any advice or a point in the direction would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Jess

Check www.pollywog.co.uk. i forget the guy's name who runs this site, but his care sheet section is great--- except for the temps being in Celsius cuz he's on the other side of the Atlantic. LOL!
