UV Lighting

Is there anything special about the specially made mercury vapor bulbs for reptiles (a.k.a. The PowerSun UV) that make them different from the much cheaper mercury vapor bulbs that can be bought at a hardware store?

the rays on the more expensive ones go for about 5 feet. and ther reptisun ones only go for about one or two feet at the most. That is what i have heard. and the expensive ones give of hheat.
