Yellow-Throated-Plated

Hi there, was curious if anyone knows how to sex the yellow throated plated. I've had one for almost two years now but haven't been able to find any info.

Thanks

Check this link for sexing pics, but be sure to check before Wendsday because you won't be able to see them after that.

If you really have a yellow throated (G. flavigularis), sexing is easy: Only males have reddish and yellowish parts at their throat. Also females are of a much darker brown and males have much more pronounced femoral pores with waxy secrets protruding if they are sexually mature.

IF you keep G. nigrolineatus instead, which is very often sold as yellow throated plated lizard.
Neither males nor females have any red or yellow at their throat. Nigrolineatus males have much more red at their flanks (yellow throiateds, flavigularis, never have any red at the flanks), whereas the female do have more brownish flanks.
The difference with the femoral pores is the same for both species.

Check it out

I'll have to check more closely, I did not know there were two species that looked that similar. Basically, the pic of the plated on the main page of this forum is what I have. Has anyone had tried/had luck breeding these guys?

Thanks for the help.
