four of my lizards became super skinny in a matter of a day, well not all at once, kaiser and ivan did it like two weeks ago and gertie and lucia i discovered today. lucia never lost her gravid orange, i mean its been weeks but she sort of look deflated but i found no eggs in the cage, but i did find extremely huge urates.

anyway i scrubbed the dickens out of one cage and have ivan kaiser gertie and lucia living in it. i am going to treat them all together. i am going to clean out the other two cages too and keep an eye on the weights, i don't want to medicate them if i don't have too. walter, midge and jolly all seem fine and eat like no tomorrow.

hopefully in the next couple weeks i can tell you that they have fat reserves again!

Do you think it could be parasites?

yeah i think they have parasites and it is just easier to have them in the same cage. the way things are set up in my temporary home are chaotic and this cage is easy to get to so i can give them some extra treats of baby food to fatten them back up

Maybe your young girl just re-absorbed any eggs she may have had.

but would she look that deflated afterwards, three lizards have become hip sticking out skinny and ivan probably would have been that skinny if not for how fat she was to begin with.

i just feel better about being able to keep an eye on them better. lucia worries me the most as she seems to be a bit lethargic. i am going to continue hand feeding her baby food and if i don't see a change soon then i will take her to the vet

If all became THAT thin abruptly, (everone) at the same time, then I would be suspecious of something also. Does not sound right.

Are they dehydrated/drinking enough ? You just moved to a new place is the water different? And then there is always the parasite thing, Hope they all perk up real soon, I know how it can drive you NUTS!

Did you get your bugs from a different place than usual, do they look healthy/clean when you get them?

the water here tastes better than it did in san diego but i am like one big ball of dry skin. i don't know if that would affect them or not. lucia is who i worry about. she is sort of inactive and has twitchy toes. there is nothing coming out of her nose or eyes. i have been handfeeding them and giving them extra calcium

there is only one place to get crickets around here and the store is immaculate, i can't imagine the bugs being dirty. i guess i can ask where they get them from

This worries the heck out of me.

When I used to keep collareds quite a few years ago, this is similar to what happened before an as-yet-undiagnosed illness wiped out all of my collareds in a matter of a few weeks. I treated them for everything they could be treated for--bacterial infections, parasites, anorexia, etc., and they still withered away to nothing--even though I was force feeding them and they were still eating on their own. Because of that horrible, horrible experience, I am quick to respond to unexplained weight loss in a very aggressive manner. If I were in your shoes, I think I'd go ahead and get them to the vet.

I hope to goodness this turns out to be nothing like what I went through.

the other three that are with lucia seem fine. they are active and running around and will go after crickets. lucia however is not going after crickets and she is under the rock all the time and keeps her eyes closed.
i am trying to get her to the vet today and then i am going to quarentine her by herself and keep her really warm all the time. her toes aren't twitching right now but something is not right with her and if she is getting a respiratory infection i would rather nip it in the bud. i don't force feed any of them, she will take baby food from me willingly, as will the others
