How do I keep babies healthy?

jeffmedley May 19, 2003 10:07 AM

I've kept leos for years with great success w adults. But I've had a little trouble with really young geckos. I have some questions?

1. I bought 1.1 baby tremp albinos, and 1.1 baby patternless. They are just big enough to sex, or so the breeder told me
Can they be all kept in a 10 gallon tank together.

Thanks Jeff

Well that does pose a little bit of a problem with hatchling leopards. I keep clutchmates together until they are about 20 grams or so. The thing is with keeping that many together is your probably going to slow the growth of one or more of the leos. Another thing you might run into is breeding them at a very young age. You would be surprised at how quick they can breed. And breeding a very young female or male can be detrimental as well. Idealy you would want to house the new additions seperately but if you can't I would house the males together and the females together. I know your saying "what males together" but for a short period of time say till their 20 grams or so they will be fine together. Also even with housing two leos together alot of times one will dominate the other one. So you have to be on a look out for this. A good cheap alternative would be to get a few rubbermaids and house them all seperate until they are older. Hope this helped.
