Caiman de-worming update

manhattagator Mar 15, 2006 02:43 PM

I looked on the internet for "alligator" de-wormer and didn't find it. I found cattle and dog and cat de-wormer. It said it kills roundworms so I figured I would just go buy some from the local pet store. I gave the caiman the suggested amount acording to it's weight. I figured cat weight caiman weight what's the difference? I injected it down it's throat a few times over a couple of weeks and there's no sign of worms anymore. The caiman has definately gained weight AND it's skin problem has healed. (his sclaes were falling off in some areas leaving white spots.) I will continue to give it more cat de-wormer to make sure any remaining worms that may have been in the egg stage are killed.

Your lucky most available deworming medication is very forgiving when it comes to dosing.

Dosages do vary from species to species however, and to prevent unwanted side-affects (it's hard to see what your doing to the kidneys from your vantage point) I would recommend discussing your dosages with a veterinarian.
