hello,
i have so far owned an adult male blazing blizzard leopard gecko for three weeks now. he came from sandfire dragon ranch as an adult. since day one he has not eaten a single thing. he weighed in at 73 grams upon arrival and then droped down to 69 grams. so i have begun force feeding him every 3-4 days and watching his weight. i actually dont have to "force" him, i just rub dusted crickets or waxworms on his nose and he bites them and eats them. we average 4-6 bugs per feeding session. it is very strange though, because he will not eat on his own. i let him go those first two weeks and his tail became very deflated. once i started the feeding sessions he has gained his weight back to 73-74 grams and has filled back out. he is a beautiful gecko, solid white with red eyes, i've never seen one so white before, not a hint of yellow or grey. but these feedings are beginning to become stressful for him and me! i am even considering finding a new home for him so someone can devote the time to him. i have other animals (herps mostly) and i can't keep worring over him.
sandfire dragon ranch told me it was probably stress from shipping and he needs to get used to his new routine and environment. but its been almost a month to the day since i got him, and he still wont eat. he is active at night though, and sleeps all day.
is this typical sometimes of adult-purchased leopard geckos? i also have a second adult blazing blizzard male (both housed in seperate tanks) that i got at the same time, in the same shipment. this one is a touch smaller, wtih a touch of yellow on him, but since day one has aggressivly eaten on his own, not one problem with him!
any suggestions would be great.
