hello all. i just bought some slate from home depot, i am just wondering how do i clean it before i put it in the cage? also do i have to hook it up to a rheostat? thanks tanya

You can clean it with just soap and water or you do clean it in a mild (10%) bleach solution. If you decide to do the bleach solution, make sure you rinse the slate out well so there's no more bleach smell.
Depends on what you are using to heat up your tank, if it is heat strip or UTH then connecting it to a rheostat is recommended.
