Can you use a dimmer with the active UVheat bulbs? m

Jeannie Jul 28, 2003 01:28 PM

I know you can't use a themostat, but I can't find anything about dimmers. I am concerned that if I get the 100 watt bulb, it will be too hot at the recommended distance--my Hermann's hatchling will be housed in a rubbermaid container when not outside (winter months). I don't know if the 60 watt would be warm enough. Could I use a dimmer if need be, and would it cut the UVB output proportionally?

Thanks,

Jeannie

Nope. Think of the active UV heat bulbs as a kind flourescent(sp?) tube with a built in ballast. I won't work.
