and I never knew they existed. Where would one get a rat like this anyway? I read that they have been banned since 2003 cause of a monkeypox infestation. Just curious.

All your questions are answered in the posts below.
To recap: Their are a few people breeding these animals.
They are selling their surplus, males and frozen.
They are a little more expensive then normal "rats".
There was a band, but these animals passed inspection and are allowed to be bred and sold.
