tryin to find out wat kinda snake i got

kinglover Mar 16, 2006 08:59 PM

i found a snake today about...13 inches if i was to guess and right off the bat i was almost sure it was a garter because of the keeled scales and spots all down its body. the one thing that threw me was that there was no streak and im thinking its a spotted garter because of not only the characteristics but the head shape also. i put a small worm with the snake and ive never seen a worm go down quicker than that lol but im more of a king guy so wat i said might be wrong correct me because im fascinated but curious at the same time. thanks u guys

If we knew where on this planet you found the snake, it would help, since then we could eliminate possibilities due to ranges.

The fact that it ate a worm helps, since that would eliminate some species that might match the vague description.

Location...Please.

From your discription it could easily be a version of the Brown snake~Storeria dekay. They are great worm eaters.

If it's brown/tan also look up DeKay's Snake (Storeria dekayi). They have varying sizes of spots may or may not have a noticable stripe depending on location and subspecies...

well after looking around here and there im positive i have a northern brown especially by the docile manner and how it took about 20 seconds for it to engulf a worm haha well thanks you guys
