Who owns Gary Ferguson's book, and...

The Panther Chameleon: Color Variation, Natural History, Conservation, and Captive Management.

Is it worth it? Is it overkill for someone like myself (non-breeder) or is it worthwhile regardless of level/extent of involvement?

thanks

Hi Lele,
If you are into the technical stuff......
Honestly, the book is a bit too long-haired for my taste.

If you want a copy, drop me an email. I think I could be persuaded to part with our copy.

lol! same here! I am a book nut. grew up in a fmaily with floor to ceiling bookshelves and learned early "books are your friends" hahaha! Just having spent 6 1/2 years back in school it gave me reason to buy not only required texts but additional ones for research (love research!). Many years ago while unemployed and barely getting by, I would still allow myself an occasional book - some folks go for comfort food, I go for comfort words!

a few weeks ago there was this book store that was taking trade-ins. So if you brought 20 lbs of books you could get 2lbs of books in return. They were all used books of course, but I went in a few days before, looked for books I wanted, needed about 100lbs worth of books, so I went to the good will and bought out there .10 book section! I spent about $10.00 and got about $300.00 worth of books!! Lame I know, but I got lots of nice hardback books to add to my shelves! I'll get rid of all my paperbacks one way or another! I went to law school, so I know what you mean about research books. I have the whole RCW collection... know you can find all that info on the net for free!!

gee, I should look for a deal like that! I am dangerous on ebay. it all started innocently enough on half.com where I could find my text books cheap, then there was ABE, then there was overstock and of course, amazon...then there was ebay! I am very selective and know all I need to know about the book(s) I am buying there. I collect (and read) older books on Lepidoptera and have just about all of them! haha! My brother works for Simon & Schuster in NYC and he and his wife are going into their own publishing (can't say any more than that! might get him fired!) but we are always watching out for old rare books for one another. Some people like to shop at the mall, but I'll take used book stores anyday! Living in New England is a real plus b/c most of the early books have stayed around the region - we are all such "old stuff" hoarders

So did/do you take the bar and practice law?

I love used book stores too!! There is one here in seattle called Once Read, I find all sortsa cool stuff in there!! I'm an ebayer too, just haven't bought much recently... I've gone on Amazon too, but I never have any luck there. A few weeks ago, when I got Angus, the breeder told me I just HAD to have this book, "Leaf-Tailed Geckos- The Genus Uroplatus", so I check ebay, amazon, couldn't find it. SO I ordered it from some book-store on line, I was soo excited when I came in, I ordered it from Germany for only 35.00 including shipping!! So I get the book, open the box and it's written in GERMAN! I was Tyler my problem and he hoped on Amazon and found it in like 2 seconds, then proceeded to make fun of me for not being able to read German. Lucky for me, they let me send it back and sent me an "english" version. That's what I get for jumping the gun!!!
I was two years into a three year internship with a law firm here in Seattle, when I realized that it wasn't what I thought it was going to be... People are sue happy and you'd be amazed how many lawyers have never even stepped foot in a court room. They prefer to "settle" and to me it's like laundering money. I'm not a roll over kinda girl so I was extremely bored and decided to take a few years off. Although I don't think I'll go back, but it does pay to have a degree, I've been offered a new job... with a new BIGGER company.. but I won't say to much yet either!!
