a blue Brahminy Blind Snake???

I found this guy yesterday along with several other normal (black/dark brown) blind snakes. I thought maybe he could be in shed, but it is not just a blue hue, there is a striking difference in color. Just thought I'd share a pic...

Yeah, it probably is amelanisitic. It was really weird to flip debris and find a solid light blue snake though. I am currently trying to find out if one like this has been found before. Thanks for the input!

I have found blindsnakes of both colors in hawaii. I found that about1 in 10 were blue like yours. I was told that the blue ones were in shed but I have no idea if the person knew what they were talking about. I still do not know exactly what the deal was. Nice finds anyway...

wow, maybe that is just a fairly common morph...i have my doubts about the 'in shed' theory-never seen a snake that dark get that light just from pre-ecdysis,etc..just not what it looks like to me,but i've also never even seen one of those in person!regardless, pretty cool, somethin' different.

I've found several in that shed phase.

Guess the blue ones aren't as uncommon as I thought. Maybe they're in shed, maybe not. Either way they are pretty neat critters. Thanks for the input everyone!

The snake is in shed phase. Just like a few have noted already in this thread.

Case closed.
