I've been working with these for about 8 years now and have to say they are my favorite taeniura.
This is a 05 from my 9ft female

How are their temperments? I picked up some proven adult blue beauties and they are too fiesty for me. I would really like some ridleyi but not if they are as difficult to handle as my blues.

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long the grasshopper stored up acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched tv. And then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus stole all his acorns, and he got a race car. Is any of this sinking in?

The mother to the one pictured was a sweetheart, you could get her out of the cage without a hook and she would just hang out with you.

the male is fast and nervous but not outright aggressive. (think white lip python with smaller teeth)

the babies i've had usually start out very nippy (same as when I was breeding blue beauties) but will calm down with gentle handling.

I've only had 3 adult blue beauties and one was very mellow, and the other two were insane.

I dont really think its a subspecies thing, I think its just the individual snake.
If they are raised with frequent gentle handling, I think they will grow up being easy to manage, regardless of what they are.

If your blues are young, just keep handling them and they will probably come around.

Actually, my blues are about 9 ft. One of them is huge and fat. She is insane but I think it is from her previous owner, as she had some serious scars probably from rat bites. I dont know how I'm going to bag her when I sell her. The others are handlable but they frequently strike at the sides of their boxes when people are in the room. They agitate easily.

9' is pretty impressive. I'm curious if you've noticed differences in the adult size of your ridleyis and their growth rates.
Do you find that males are smaller than females? And do you have any guess on the length of your snakes around their 1st and 2nd years?
My 10 month old male seems to be growing pretty fast (currently 58" with average growth of around 4-5" per month) and has incredibly rapid digestion (an adult mouse comes in one end and leaves the other in about 2 days), but I'm curious if that's all normal.

As for temperament, mine has calmed down A LOT since I first acquired it. It's still squirmy but has almost entirely stopped biting me. I attribute this to the fact that I keep my snake near by desk, so it has gotten very used to seeing me. In fact, when I open the cage now, it usually rushes out looking for food instead of acting defensively.

Cheers

what you have noticed with yours is about the same experience I've had.
My 05's from last spring are already on medium rats, so I'd guess they would measure out around 4.5-5ft.

My male is about 7ft, and was born in 00.

Ive noticed with the taeniura i've had (yunans, E.t.t,blues, ridleyi) all have fast metabolisms, and usually fully digest a medium sized meal in a few days.

Does anyone elses's blues/ridleyi's have exteremely stinky poo?

Mine seems to smell fine. Nothing worst than what a corn snake would produce.
