Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a subadult white-lipped python, and the seller included the cage in the price of the snake. It's a beautiful, tall custom cage, coming in at 24" long x 16" wide x 36" high. I'm trying to raise the temps in the enclosure to the necessary 90 degree basking spot near the top, fading to around 78-80 degrees at the floor level. The cage is solid glass except for a screen top measuring 24" x 12".
What type of overhead heat source (bulbs please!) would you recommend? I'm planning on buying a lighting fixture that has two 150watt incandescent sockets and 1 fluorescent strip. I've used the same fixture on my black ratsnake's cage with great success; however, his smaller cage is heated sufficiently with 1 40watt day bulb and 1 25watt night bulb, so I have no idea what wattage I will need for the new cage.
I'd prefer to go with a halogen heat bulb from ZooMed due to the fact that I know it'll fit in the fixture, plus the cost is better than the ceramic heat emitters.
Any opinions would be wonderful, thank you!!!
