Place to ask about advertisers? BOI???

inletexotics Mar 17, 2006 11:15 PM

So I do not srtay from the intended topic I was wonderind if there was some kind of BOI on kingsnake? I saw animal posted on the for sale boards but I would like to get some info about the seller. He says they are triple hets?? Which confuses me because he is selling some hypo het albino, "het. sunglow", het stripes? I have always thought that het albinos and het sunglows were the same thing and not "triple hets." I would also think that anyone who has these for sale would know that and advertise them as double hets. So i was just wondering where I could get some info about this particular seller. Thanks

Jeremy

Could be very wrong but I'll give it a shot. Some people say DH (double het) sunglow, and some say hypo het albino. They are the same thing, just worded differently. He is calling them triple hets because of the stripeline gene. So I'm guessing they are hypo het albino het stripeline (or triple het stripeline sunglow). This would make them triple hets. Hope someone else chimes in explain it a little better.

most part Michael but here it is again real quick. Triple het for striped sunglow pretty much means it's het for three things, Sunglow,Albino and Stripe. Hypo het albino and DH sunglows are the same but DH means there will be two different morphs to come out of his breeding, Sunglows and albinos which are both albino's but one is a hypo albino. Adding another gene to it, be it the stripe gene or the anery gene would make them triple hets. I hope this make sence cause I just woke up! So the guy is representing them the right way. My guess would be that they came from a striped albino male breed tyo a hypo or dh sunglow female.

I may be wrong, but this is how I always looked at the Dh and Triple Het thing when a Hypo Het "whatever" was involved.

The Hypo in most cases is NOT a Super, so it is technically a Heterozygous Hypo. If it was a Super it would be a Homozygous Hypo.

So, a Triple Het Striped Sunglow would be a Hypomelanistic Heterozygous Stripe and Albino. Or rather a Boa that was Het for "Super" Hypo, Stripe, and Albino (The triple Homozygous).
Now you could obviously still have a Striped Sunglow that was not triple Homozygous. You could have a Striped Sunglow that was Homozygous for Striped Albino, but was only Heterozygous Hypo since Hypomalanism is a dominant mutation.
