escaped boa

okay, i came home the other day took a shower had supper and all the usual stuff. walked over to my dumeril's tank and realized i had forgotten to secure the lid that morning. i had been gone for 12 hours so there was no telling where he had gone off to. i knew he would be either in a fairly large hiding spot so i searched my closet but no luck. my next guess was a heat source but he wasnt sitting atop any other tanks and he wasnt near the dryer or heat vents. where did i find him, you ask? in my bathroom, coiled up in between layers of my worn clothes from the previous day. so heres my question...why my clothes? why not a dark hiding spot? or a heat source like another tank? can a snake get "attached" to its owner and develop a sort of bond like a dog or a cat would? im just puzzled as to why he would choose my scent covered clothes and not somewhere else. anyway, just thought id share with you all and see if that had ever happened to any of ya.

but you are one LUCKY DUDE! 12 hours and you found it right away!!?? You hear about people spending thousands of dollars dismantling their car/house/TREE to get their snake back.

Thats great that you found him so quick!! Snakes can tell their who their owners are by scent but who knows why in the clothes.... my boa loves hiding in blankets no matter where they are lol

yeah, im pretty lucky when it comes to finding escaped snakes. about 2 years ago, i had a 6' redtail escape and i realized it 30 minutes before i had to leave for work. i went into berserker mode tearing apart the house, checking the washer, dryer, behind the couch. behind the fridge, everywhere. i even went and ripped open the shower curtain hoping she'd be sitting in the bathtub. all to no avail. then after a couple minutes i decided to check the tub again. so i raced back and yanked the shower curtain back and saw a 6 foot boa coiled around the shower nozzle staring me dead in the face (figure of speech..she wasnt dead). why she didnt take part of my face off the first time i checked the tub i dont know but i was very lucky indeed to have found her in less than 20 minutes.

Pile of clothes in a bathroom would be warm, dark, snug, and humid. It had nothing to do with your scent.
