DIAL-UPs YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! I think I spent more time on this WIR than any of the others. I added a few special treats so sit back and enjoy!
Welcome to another WEEK IN REVIEW!
DISCLAIMER: Chris said he will handle all matters of public relation for those who feel insulted if their pics from the contests did not make this week's WIR. (sorry couldn't resist.lol)
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
uhm...MY SANITY from viewing boa pics all day!!! Okay, now that I got that out of the way, let's continue on with the WIR...
pastels co-dominant? a reply by JohnLokken
John obviously spent a ton of time writing this reply. Check it out! John, I would save what you typed if I were you in case you ever want to repost it later down the road.

Does anyone else eagerly want to see macajuel’s snaggle-tooth boa. In fact, he should name him Cletus and breed him with his sister!

BTW, I edited your pic because for some odd reason it made me think of baby birds. Hope you like:

Should i get a boa? by freon546
Duh? You’re asking this on the boa forum? LoL. But that’s okay, we’ll forgive you…since we’ve stolen you away from the BP forum. They can keep all the puns about ‘playing with their balls’ but when it comes right down to it, boas have more fun (or is it blonds?). lol

Question for experienced breeders by AshLopez
Some nice pics Ash! On a side note: I also use a few of those same 72?Qt Sterilite containers. However, I have to weight down the middle to prevent escapes. Do you do the same thing? Or do you use another method?

Lets play Name That Boa brought to you by bcijoe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
Texhiss “You know what they say, Nothing like riding a big old Hoggg!”
Ball Python keepers aren’t the only ones who have fun with puns!

and in close 2nd for Quote of the Week: Bcijoe describing why some people are so turned off by Argentine boas:
“perhaps their attitude as youngsters is a turn off, but this is misleading! They may huff and they may puff, but they will NOT blow your house down! They won't even strike most times!” Read a little more about B.c. occidentalis here
and just an FYI so there is no confusion for those less familiar with these locality boas:
Argentine boas and Argentine Rainbow boas are two completely different snake species.
TIP OF THE WEEK:
“Just cleaned the snake room in record time. I use to be totally against using anything but newspaper, but I am glad that after 20yrs, that I seen the error of my ways! Aspen is quick and easy and the snakes love it and burrow in it and it just feels more natural too them.” from madisonrecords aka Johnson Herp

I may soon be assimilated. Resistance is futile, or so I hear. I’ve heard the time saving factor is HUGE. My only concern is feeding and the risks of boas ingesting aspen. I know, I know…some say they don’t have the luxury of a nice, clean surface in the wild but they’re not in the wild. If you have a small collection, it may be possible to use a separate feeding container BUT with 100 snakes, it would take way too long. Any thoughts? In maizeysdad thread, he references Gus's great "pro-aspen" post which I must have simply overlooked. Can someone reply with the link?
LONGEST THREADS OF THE WEEK:
Only the longest thread(s) EVER! Thanks a lot ChrisGilbert! J/K…its actually nice to see everyone contributing and participating and making this forum a true ‘community’ of boa enthusiasts!
CONTEST 1: Who has the best Normal Colombians?
Quite honestly, I don’t even know where to start. I think its best left to you to decide which is the nicest. I can tell you, however, bcijoe dominated the game with an unprecedented number of normal yet not so normal pics.
AND the WINNER goes to…
Wait a sec…how in the….[bleep]?...oops….
But seriously, that has to be the ugliest dog…please tell me the snake is constricting it. JOKING! Sorry Phil, I couldn’t resist! I grew up with Miniature Schnauzers, which are probably just about as wacky in attitude.
Bcijoe:
ajfreptiles: I thought this photo was hilarious.

Mike Panichi:

just way too many to list.
CONTEST 2: calling for visual BCI PROVEN morphs only
Once again, dozens and dozens of amazing pics which you’ll have to check out to decide which is best!

Drimes (you must be STUART’s neighbor)

BNixon (for the love of God, quit spending money on snakes and get a leaf blower!)

WELCOME NEWCOMERS and LURKERS:
Welcome to Sharese, snkreptiles

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Steve posted an inquiry last week regarding his pregnant boa’s odd behavior. Unfortunately, this week past she died. I’m sorry Steve. This should remind us that its not always congrats and good fortune this time of year. Always keep in mind that there are sometimes others less fortunate who either have bad luck or are still battling the learning curve. Confucius once said that breeding boas is not as simple as throwing two boas in a cage together. It couldn’t be truer!
For some reason, I could not re-post a few pics that had [ and ] in the title.
