Hear about what happened at Snow Creek??

lateralis Mar 18, 2006 12:38 PM

I was over in the WW, Snowcreek area yesterday afternoon and some nitwit was out taking shots at cars along the road and the freeway, I left and went to WW just as they closed Snowcreek off and LE took the shooter down (dead). Im thinking those places have finally played out, they are simply too dangerous to fool with anymore, between overzealous wardens, perverts and now snipers, Im thinking its time to explore more peaceful areas of the Mojave.

And I thought the craziest thing I have ever seen was at Whitewater when the wardens were using that black & white piece of rubber to stop people. Some of those back roads in Verbina gave me a sinister vibe....was anyone besides the formally breathing idiot wounded?

They still use "bubba" on WW road, I try to run it over whenever I see it.
Fortunately nobody but the former nitwit was injured.
I bet Klauber and Kauffeld would roll over in their graves if they knew what the "herping" scene has evolved into.

years (15 or so) ago. A resident way back off the main area saw me stopping for a shovelnose snake. He pulled up and beligerantly confronted me, telling me to "leave the snakes alone". I told him I was within my legal rights to do what I was doing, etc. He asked how would I like to "have a bullet in my skull"? Needless to say, I decided to herp another spot that night. Have had other weird (and potentially dangerous) encounters there and at other spots over the years.

WW is a place in Riverside county, most people have heard of it, Snowcreek is another place to look for herps, thats why the topic came up, snipers in herping territory. A bad mix.

Last season a buddy of mine and i were out on WW and this guys was parked on the side of the road and started shooting at my buddies truck with an airsoft gun. and hitting him with my 15 million candle power spot light in a near bush with his dog I grabed my wristrocket and started slingshoting rocks back at him and his truck.LoL Needless to say he stoped and headed deeper in the bushes.
To this day i dont like going back to whitewater much. I still go every once and while but now after this im not so sure ill be heading out there this season LoL

What idiots will do to pass the time. I could be...
a. Trying to meet some women... or
b. Playing one of a million games on console or pc or..
c. Saving money to survive the avian flu doom that is close upon us all (sorry had to get that one in) or...
D. Shoot people with guns on the side of the road.

Man, I feel bad for California Herpers. Not to fear, Greyband country has its own set of fools.

Best wishes,

pinkwater and sand(snow) creek are so played out, the people who herp these spots have no imagination and or no skill for this hobby! Use your maps and find some new spots, and try actually getting out of the car every now and then! The constant sea of cars going 9 mph in front of the snipers house all night is probably what drove him to the edge! Never be afraid to try new spots, herping is about learning, not just driving and grabing snakes!
