Here's a pic of one of my melamine cages,I need to waterproof the routered edges with some thing non-toxic....any ideas?!

What is the routed edge for? Window, Slider, etc. This will change our answer a lot. If we know your plan our anwser can be better tailored to your use.

It's for the inside edge of the door openings, the doors are on hinges...

Just use a white latex paint designed for BAth and Kithchen. Two coats should be sufficient to seal the edge around the door. On the flat area you can buy iron on melamine edgeing but it is not as good as paint at sealing the edge. There are better products somebody may recommend but IMO paint is Good enough for the door opening.

Thanks for the info! Latex paint? I figured that I would need to use some kind of epoxy....? I'll give the paint a shot!

latex will work for that particular application. Around the door will only get a little humidity but the latex will be fine. If you were doing a floor or base epoxy would defenetly be better.
