Shipping HOROR!!!!!!!!!!

brdfreak Jul 28, 2003 04:05 PM

Well, much to my dismay, I had to sell my yellow pair of dragons. Leia from BDNY purchased them and we shipped them out last Tuesday via USPS overnight express. They lost the package and the dragons were in the shipping box untill they found it and delivered it Friday. That was the scariest thing ever. They had absolutely no idea where the package was. They couldn't even tell me what flight the package left Tulsa on!!! Luckily they arrived alive and to the best of my knowledge, are doing well. (I haven't heard from Leia since Friday so I'm assumeing all is well) I will NEVER EVER EVER use USPS again!!!!! I packed them with ice packs and I think that may be what saved them from the high heat for 3 days. I guess that shows how resiliant beardies are, as well as how stupid I was to use USPS even though I've never had problems with them before....
Anyway just thought I'd share in case someone else decided to use them. Has anyone else had problems like this with any other services for shipping?

I have had packages coming to me get lost when they sent them via USPS. I only use Fed ex when shipping animals out and they are yet to let me down.... bound to happen at least once, but it hasn't yet! (Knock on wood)

So glad they were ok after all that time

They said at the transfer station that fedex refused the package because it was over 85 degrees. So eveidently they contract through fedex to deliver overnight stuff. They also said that that is how the mixup happened. They ended up on a commercial freight plane and noone scanned in the package anywhere in between Tulsa and New York. It was a nightmare!
Thanks for your input.

i had one dragon shipped to me via USPS awhile back and he was also lost for 3 days or well he arrived on the 3rd day instead of overnight, luckily he survived and was no worse for wear, never, ever, would i have a dragon shipped to me or ship one with their service. This is Carrick, he was the one lost as a baby, i was soooo releived when he finally arrived, was terrible thinking of him out there in a box somewhere.

Carrik Bug said thanks for the compliment i think you just made his ever fat head even fatter

that would be a total nightmare having that many babies lost, i have used airborne and received other dragons through them as well as most of my feeders and have not been disappointed yet.

I sent one of my best dragons to a guy, and the package vanished from the manager's office! The delivery driver set the package off to the side while he was loading his truck for delivery. He left the package behind on accident. It was taken into the manager's office where it "disapperared" overnight. They found the box 8 days later opened, wet and crushed underneath a semi tire. There was no sign of the deli cup or receipt. I am kinda glad it got stolen and not lost, so at least there is a chance the dragon is getting taken care of. Those delivery drivers get paid well, they can afford to pamper a free beardy ...

It's events like these that are the reason I will never ship any live animal anywhere, nor purchase one I can't driver over and pick up myself. Its just too risky and hard on the animal that to me, isn't worth it.

I also have a thing about not being able to see the animal I am buying with my own eyes, and the environment it was raised in. Though most breeders who ship stuff do everything they can to ensure a safe arrival of a healthy and alive animal, its just a personal preference.

I think it could happen with any delivery service. You just were the one who hit the percentage of incident on that shipment. It's going to happen from time to time. Care to play the lottery? It could be your turn.
