Does egg temp determine sex ratio?

darkpythons666 Mar 19, 2006 11:24 AM

I know that this is true with crocodilians, but my friend said that snake eggs also depend on temp. But then how are their near 50/50 male to females in a clutch? Are python eggs determined by chromosomes or egg temp?

Not in snakes at least. All crocs, most turtles /torts, and some lizards, YES.
