problem with breeder

cochran Mar 19, 2006 02:27 PM

I am having trouble getting my okeetees to breed.I see no interest on the male's part,so I placed another female with him, they locked up almost instantly. It appears to be the female okeetee that is not ready. They have both shed since being out of brumation, but they are both in the "blue" as of now.Has anyone seen this before?I'm thinking that maybe after this second shed she may be ready. jeff

it may be that she is not ready, some corns can be funny.how old is she? is this their first year? i dont brumate my corns and the female shed on feb 10th and have been putting them together since then for a week at a time pull them apart for 3 days and put them back together. i did not notice any interest from her until march 14th when i actually witnessed copulation. so it is very possible that she is not ready at this exact moment. just remember that when she is ready he will be ready.

All of my snakes were interested after the first shed. Although, many people have said this year that some of their snakes are waiting until the second, even 3rd shed. Just keep introducing them.
