otis07 Mar 19, 2006 03:58 PM

i saw a conehead lizard in a pet store yesterday and it was really pretty, it was like 1 ft. long w/ tail. i have a chinese water dragon and when it gets bigger (he's 1 ft now) i am putting him in a 6'Lx 2'Wx 28"H, could i put both of them in together. do you know if coneheads swim, and would if be ok if i put 6-8 in of water in? thanks

Hello Otis07:
I wouldn't mix Conehead Lizards (genus Laemanctus) with Water Dragons (genus Physignathus) because of the size difference between the two animals as adults and the fact that they are from completely different continents. Though they are both forest dwellers their behavioral patterns are different and I see the Water Dragon becoming very dominant over the Conehead.
Hope this helps. Have a Great Day!!!
