I never felt I had the need to with the type of snakes i have been breeding. I just stick the eggs in a shoebox and place them on a dark shelve somehere. I keep the humidity up by checking the substrate (usually perlite) and moistening it when it gets a little too dry. I have had more success with dryer perlite than ones with to much water added. Its all good though when using perlite. Perlite really lets the eggs breath. Most snake eggs are pretty tough anyway. Mine eggs moved about and sometimes even dropped. They still hatch . No problems. Sometimes to much attention can be a detriment to raising snakes.

That is a really cool looking incubator. How does it work? I bred for the first time last year. I used an aquarium with water and a heater. I had success. I'm not sure what I'm going to do this year. Derek

I think I have seen the pic of your incubator posted up in the past. What ever gets your eggs to temp will

This is a pic of the top of the Lyon RL1 Incubator i will be using this season. The peice of black tape is keeping the thermostat set at 80 degrees..

In the past I have used the styrofoam hovobators & back in the early 90's I used a lightbulb in a wooden box & dimmer switch to regulate the temp.. To tell you the truth the light bulb thing worked pretty well!! I hatched out tons of corns & kings in that box.

I used the shoe box in the closet method when I was breeding Leaf Tailed Geckos. I don't think i ever lost an egg either!

I've got seven L.T. celaenops eggs cooking as we speak.
She dropped them on 2/28/06 so I should have my first batch of babys for '06 in late April or May. Wish me luck!
