F1 Variability in Hypo / Salmons *PICS*

giantkeeper Mar 19, 2006 07:50 PM

My post below was to point out the common variablilty in hypo/salmon offspring. Mainly because I have seen it thrown around a bunch("what do you think...is it a new morph"?!?!?!) lol, mostly as is this a jungle, or pastel, or "whatever". This is not a bashing post, but hopefully something for our newer and younger crowd to look at and learn from. Not every boa is a new morph, god knows we all wish we could be the "one"....lol. Take care,

These are all from the same 04 litter. They were produced from a salmon male to a normal female.

BTW, all of the pictures where taken at roughly 1 1/2 years old, except picture #1, she resides elsewhere.....

I would love to see more breeders, share sibling photos of their litters......

Hello Chris...those are some awesome Salmons for sure!!!

That second picture really stands out to me...the side striping is just amazing!

I think that one is a keeper! Can you post more pics of that one?

As for your statements...my opinion is that alot of new people who come to this forum and then start asking if their normals are morphs...are indeed hoping they have something special!!! I think that their asking is great! Not only are they sharing pics with us...and becoming a vital part of the forum.... but I think it makes the boa community stronger as a whole and begins to reach out to even more people...

Also alot of undiscovered morphs still do exhist out there! To discourage these types of questions is to our own detriment...

So my opinion is if you think what you have.... maybe a Jungle, Pastel, Motley, T positive....or whatever....Post your question and ask away!!!

If they think you have a Jungle and no one else does...how much do you think they will get for it? How long will their statements last?

We need to be more understanding...to the beginers...We all began just like them.

Have a great day!

that you may have taken my post out of context. The bottom line is that you do not have something special, until you have proven that it is. I have some amazing salmons, that have all popped out of the same litter. The look ranges from dull, and sure to brown out to down right outstanding. Do they deserve special attention or some fancy name? Nope, that is mainly a sales gimmic, not a new morph. It's ok to have a "line" name, I suppose, but lets make sure it is something other than a nice common salmon.

Since this came from a bci normal to bci normal breeding, she must be special huh????

not exactly sure what you meant to say, but like myself, there are people here who have been a part of this forum for many years. That being said, there are surely just as many people here who know what I am trying to say, and will agree.

I prefer to spend my money on proven traits. I would hope that you would too.

What I am trying to say is I am fairly new here and because I am new many people here when I ask a simple question about one of my animals make some really confrontational comments. Again I really do not how you took my comment but it was not meant to create any nonsense.
Hope that clears it up.

This post was not aimed at the newbies as a slap on the wrist. God knows I was new here once and probably did the same things.

It was to point out that you should arm yourself with knowledge before you run out and buy some "line" of boas. More often then not, you'll spend more money for an average boa.

I can kind of see your point. But I don't see a problem with asking questions. God knows I ask a ton. I don't think everyone is thinking they have a new morph, maybe just a new trait that they can line breed to consistantly produce something a little different. Just my opinion.

Thank you Michael Burton, just in the begining I had a really bad time with the comments made by a few people. That is it.
Thank you,
