I've owned a pair of helmahera geckos for a couple months. They are both sexually mature. I'm keeping them in a 75 gallon tank. At first I had the tank horiontal with 4 or 5 inches of good substrate and live plants all over for hiding spots. They usually just lived inside the plants and only came out at night to eat and drink...which makes sense since they are nocturnal. They have also been on a 13 on 11 off light cycle.

I just changed the setup so the cage is vertical. I filled the cage with bark and thick sticks going vertical to the top of the cage and they instantly ran up and hid in the thick sticks which was my intention. There is no substrate, just a large water bowl and a small food dish.

Do you all think my changing the cage setup will help them breed? I've been checking the females underside and it hasn't grown any larger and I can't see any eggs.

Also, do these guys lay eggs in dirt, or in the bark..? When I got rid of the old substrate there were no eggs in it.

Thanks everyone..sorry this post is hard to make sense of, heh.
