Ginger needed some free roaming time so I grabbed the camera and got a quick pic of her.

Maybe laying those eggs back in January changed her. She looks alot bluer than in any of her other pictures.

JB71RT Mar 22, 2006 06:03 PM

Thanks! She's been eating like a pig ever since then. Trying to make up for lost weight. I guess she just wants her girlish cyclura figure back. (HaHaHa!) She's bulked-up quite a bit since. Anyway, her color has definitely benefitted from it. This is her I think a year and a half ago. She's changed alot since then.
I like that pic of the rhino outdoors! What a nice looking animal. How old is he and where did you get him?

rhino2 Mar 24, 2006 01:22 AM

Here he is again(3rd pic)with my son who was also 5 yrs old when the picture was taken. In the earlier photo, Jordan had been misted with water prior to taking the picture. With some cyclura igs, it will make them look more bluish - try it on ginger when she is hot. Jordan is an offspring of one of my females -Lev- 1st pic, and Walter -2nd pic. - more pics of walter on Cyclura.com

WOW! What a great looking group. How long have you been in the hobby? I pretty much still think of myself as a newby after 6 yrs. There's always something new to learn. Oh, Thanks for the photo tip, I'll try it next time.

Hi Jane, who is that with Bubbles? Very nice green(orange)iguana!

It was a marvelous rescue male iguana that has found a terrific adoptive home. I miss that lizard!!

Hi there,
Sorry that I dont know you by first name so I must refer to you as Jiffypop lol. Anyway, I read that your rhino is from Ehrig and i think he is gorgeous. How old was he when you got him? I think I have his, Ehrig's, contact info as 305-872-9811 but I wanted to be sure this was correct info. Also, did you have difficulty reaching him, and how was his post -purchase behavior with questions you may have had? I know that there is a waiting list of sorts, so I need to contact him asap for the fall hatchlings.
thank you for any help you can offer with this.

I'm not sure which Rhino you are talking about but my male, Loofah, was a Bob Ehrig hatchling. I received him when he was a wee thing, only 3 weeks old. His growth in the first 2 years was phenomenal. He's now 4+ years old and normal size for his age. He's a wonderful boy, not as totally trusting as my other Rhinos, but he's not had the exposure to the public as my others have. Even tho I didn't purchase him directly from Bob he was very accessible after I acquired Loofah to answer my questions. I would recommend Bob as a breeder but I would also recommend John (Rhino2 or cycluracornuta) from right here on this forum. I had one of his hatchlings for a year and 2 of my friends also have John's Rhinos. Unfortunately mine turned out to be another male so he's been placed with another friend and fellow rescuer.

I'm also partial to the Rhinos even tho I also keep lewisi hybrids and Cubans. My Rhinos have such a trusting nature, are gentle and calm beasts, and often seek out human interaction. My hybrids tend to be unpredictable and somewhat moody. The Cubans are beautiful but kind of dull in personality.

Here are some photos of Loofah, the Ehrig Rhino, at 2 years of age and when I first got him. Oh, and my name is Jane.

Hi Jane
Thankyou for the note and info about breeders of rhinos. It was Loofah that I was referring to when I spoke of your rhino. Great pics! I do see that many do favor the rhinos for their affectionate nature. I do love them. I did not know that John, from this forum breeds rhinos, so that is good info to have. I am guessing he is either in florida or ca, common states for iguana breeders because of their warmer and more humid climates. If you have a number for John, and would like to email me privately with it, here is my email : address....Imindawoods1@adelphia.net. And my name is Carol
Thanks a bunch and have a great day

Carol, you can contact John through the forum by clinking on his name on one of his posts. Actually, he is located in the northeast. John has always been a great help and source of information for me and I was very disappointed that my hatchling from him turned out to be a boy. At the time I had 6 males here and only one female. I'm down to 3 boys of my own and one that will be available for adoption soon and just acquired a really nice female that was a rescue.

If John's female, Lev, lays this year I would highly recommend one of her babies. Bubbles is one of her offspring and has been a joy to raise and live with.
