Helix RHP odor

captnemo Mar 20, 2006 09:31 PM

I recently hooked up several new Helix radiant heat panels, and have noticed a plastic/chemical type smell coming from them. It's not too strong an odor, and haven't noticed any adverse effects, but was wondering if anyone has any input as to long term use. Thanks in advance!

Mike,
More than likely it is just because they are brand new. When the heating elements heat up it is causing the plastic smell. Let them run for a while and see if the smell goes away. Hope this helps.

Thanks!....I replaced them with the old lamps and ran them away from the animals to be on the safe side, and the odor's already gone.

Good deal! I would let them run for a little while longer before putting them back just to be on the safe side. What kind of herps are you keeping?
