Eggs.....

supercharged87 Jul 28, 2003 05:35 PM

As I post this, one of my female Easterns is laying eggs. I have a couple of questions, first off does it seem late in the year to be laying eggs? Second, will they hatch before winter? And lastly, I was going to put chicken wire around the nest and leave it right where it is will this be ok? Last year I accidently dug up 3 eggs when extending my pen, so I brought them in and put them in vermaculite and had no luck with any of them hatching so I really don't want to do that again. Also if I do leave the eggs where they're at and they don't hatch or come up by winter, do you think they'll be okay? Thank you for any advice given.

Kyle

They'll lay all the way up until they hibernate. The hatchlings emerge in the spring.
