Waving his legs...

theperfectlestat Mar 21, 2006 12:17 AM

I'm not sure if anything's wrong with him (her? way too young to tell) but he's been waving his front legs around this evening. He's been eating like normal, but, on occasion, he lifts up one of his legs and waves it around for a while. He also keeps bobbing his head and he had his throat bloated out for a while.

Is this normal behaviour, and I'm just ignorant (highly likely lol) or does he need help?

ive heard of juveniles doing this and i think its like head-bobbing where its just establishing rank between its peers.

Very typical behaivor, expecially for males. Mating displays, or possibly rank displays as said before. My dragon doesn't do a whole lot of arm waving, but he does head bobbing all the time.

this is extremely normal! don't worry yourself about it.

this is a display of two things:
1. mating behaviour (the male will bob his head, puff up and wave at the female whilst flicking the end of his tail) whether he or she is ready to mate or not. mine are terrible for this!

2. territorial behaviour (puffing up and acting hard to deter the other from getting close). even if they get on really well it is a way of establlishing heirarchy and is not limited to males. females do this too but don't really puff up.
