Diet and Care

Basically I feed my uros different food every day or so. There are some days they dont eat anything but a couple pellets.

I change their food all the time but it includes dandelion, collard greens, mustard greens, kale, green beans, various squashes, zucchini, finch seed(maybe 2-3 times a month), zupreem parrot pellet food(only a very small bowl every 3-6 days), bean sprouts(lentils and some others that come prepackaged), alfalfa sprouts, broccoli sprouts, snap peas, red and yellow peppers, hibiscus flowers in the summer, bee pollen once a week, and occasionally berries and nuts.

I house them both in speprate 40 gallon aquariums on carefresh bedding. Bedding is about 3-4 inches thick so they can dig thru it easily. Basking area is around 115-120 degrees.

I have had problems with my male who was given to me from a friend, including an unknown tail disease ( the vet couldnt culture it and all the spikes on his tail are now gone, but it is basically healed up). My female I got when she was about 3 inches long. It took her about 6 months before she really started growing then she went from 4 to 12 inches in about 4 months. She has grown very little since then. The male has grown at most 1 inch in 2 years.

Is there anything else that might be beneficial to their diet. I give them the occasional cricket, maybe 2-4 times a year now. And has anyone had experience with this type of zupreem pellet food for them? My female has eaten it since she was a baby with no problems.

You've got it well covered. We also add buckwheat groats, bulghar wheat, oat groats, barley, clover, nasturstiums, hollyhocks & every so often some pine nuts & shelled sunflower seeds as treats.
