I keep thinking about getting a baby Leo, so I might pick one up at the next show I go to. I found a breeder who seems to really know her stuff. I just wanted to to see if you guys could help me a bit.
Temperature: 95-100F at the basking spot and about 77-83F one the cooler end. Does that sound right?
Humidity: I don't spray them. I can let the humidity drop low. I just need to have a water dish and a humid hide. I'd probably use one of those wooden half log things and spray it good. Am I on the right track?
Substrate: The breeder told me to use paper towels or reptile carpet. She told me not to bother with sand. And if I really wanted to use sand, to wait until it's an adult.
Feeding: This breeder told me to just put a dish of meal worms in the tank and keep worms in it 24/7. She said it was safe to leave some meal worm food in the dish too, that the Leo wouldnt eat it.
I wasn't to sure about that when she was telling me, but a few minutes after, while I was still asking her questions, a random guy at the show walked up and told her that he started using her meal worm idea and his "geckos were doing much better." What do you guys think?
Last question, what size heat bulb do you guys think I need to reach the right temp for the basking spot in a standard 10gallon tank?
Thanks friends!
