Morph X "Proven"

zefdin Mar 21, 2006 03:32 PM

I noticed someone selling a Ball Python - lets call it morph X.

In this person's ad they state it to be a "Proven" animal.

I find this to be misleading.

Do they mean by proven that the animal was able to reproduce or do they mean proven to carry the morph X gene?

Did you email them and ask?

zefdin Mar 21, 2006 03:41 PM

I am worried about the person who doesnt know enough to ask.

Also, why do I want to waste my time emailing for answers that should be clearly stated in the ad in the first place?

Just my opinion.

You said YOU find it misleading, so why don't YOU email and ask the quesion. Why worry about what others think, maybe they understand the ad, if you do not, email the poster and ask, it is that simple. As for the word proven, it can mean that an animal has bred, and is a proven breeder, as for my Embers, they are a proven morph, based on how I got them, but they are not a proven Fire, or proven Hypo. If someone has a wc axanthic and advertise as a proven line, that is wrong.

Maybe its me, but I believe people should clearly represent the animals they are selling?

I personally find it hard to trust someone that I have to draw facts from that should have been clearly stated in the first place.

Yeah, I understand. Some people are better at writing ads than others, something I am trying to improve upon with every ad. Some ads people just forget or leave something out on accident. Some ads are obviously misleading, you have to know which is which, by educating yourself on morphs, so you can spot the fake ads. There have probably been countless fake Axanthics and fake Yellow Bellies sold, so those would be the ads I would scrutinize the most. Also, CB vs. CBB, vs. CH. If you really have a question, ask. I emailed someone about two weeks ago on an ad. Said Axanthic, I asked what produced it, and got a WEAK response, telling me all I needed to know.

Proven can be meant:

Proven to breed

Proven to produce viable clutch(s)

Prove to produce a certain morph

Ask the seller to clarify if you don't understand or have questions.

A PROVEN Breeder, Anytime someone states that a pastel or one of the other morphs is proven, that usually means that it is Proven breeder, But you really have to read the post close to know how they are using the word PROVEN, If some says a yellow belly is from a proven line then that is totally different. But like I said you have to READ the POST. Hope that helps. Thanks David
