I was triyng for a couple of days to remove the skin on the tip of the tail of my snake that havent come off with the shed. Skin was stuck on about half a inch on the tip of his tail. today i had him soak for a while then i try to rub the tail. It come off but the last 1/16 of an inch come off !!!! Its really a very small part, like the tip of a needle...no blood...no red skin... The rest of the tail (where the skin was stuck) is a bit
"rough" . Can it heal and come back to a better shape ? All the skin seem to be gone now.

Mizar,

I already tried posting this once so I hope it does not come up twice. Your snake should be fine and should show know ill effects of his injury this happens from time to time with my snakes mainly with my Copperheads, I usually apply some neosporin to the affected area and everything is cool. I'm assuming your snake is of the genus nerodia ?
Well most nerodia and thamnophis can dislocate their tails from a certain point on the tail much like the common anoles, the tail usually does not fully grow back but a stub forms and that is the knew end of the tail, so in fact it is even somewhat normal for this to happen. I would just apply some neosporin to it to keep infections at a minimum and everything should be cool..............Scott Wahlberg
