Het X Het = Morph?????

snakeball Mar 21, 2006 06:17 PM

Just want to see how many out there breed het to het and get morphs? Is hitting the morph a long shot or does it happen often? What about the big breeders? Do they attempt het to het breedings or do they not even bother?

Statistically, in a het x het pairing, each offspring will have a 25% chance of being that morph. Some years you get multiple moprhs, some years you get none. If you can afford it, morph x het or morph x morph is better as you're pretty much guaranteed(sp?) to get morphs...if you can't afford that, het x het is a good way to get your morphs.

I have been breeding an outbred male SK het Caramel to an outbred female SK het Caramel to try and produce a SK line Caramel. Why not?

I've got one up on that.

In 2003 I bred a 66% chance het albino male to a 50% chance het albino female. Only two eggs made it full term but they where both albinos. Unfortunately, they were also both horribly kinked so apparently I had already used up all my luck.
