Tadpole morphed.

Convicts4Ever May 19, 2003 11:45 AM

A while I posted a question about the tadpole I got from a pet store. He has recently morphed and all that remains of his tail is a tiny dark nub. He is a Green Frog, not a Bull as previously thought. He hasn't eaten anything yet, but he'll start eating soon enough. Cute little guy.

Here he/she is! Sucked that tail up in just a couple of days! I have about 19 more to go and another one is on his way already.

Green frogs make great frog pets. I currently have one male, and he'll do his "bonk, bonk" call whenever anything with alot of bass is on the radio or tv. huge appetite too!

Tank size 30+ gal. & wallpaper on 3 sides - check!

How do you provide water? The green frogs I see out back are knee-deep in water most of the day, this past week or two. Do they need a dish/plastic tub to sit in, or do they need more aquatic a setup for swimming?

& - how humid? I have a live plants & soil setup for my gulf coast toad - I like this a lot. But do greenies need it wetter, like sphagnum moss wet? -& how deep substrate? Do they burrow, & do they need to hibernate? & how often/how much to feed?

I don't HAVE any greenies & prolly won't raise any from tads this year (wood frog tads are enough just now - they're just getting stripes on their hind legs! No fronts yet) but hopefully next year. I really do like the greens, they're pretty & seem not too disturbed by me gawking at em all the time out back.

I really did search the old forums - didn't find much though - just a bunch of green TREE frog stuff, hence the subject title!
Thanks
