IS THIS A OVULATION ???

AshLopez Mar 21, 2006 11:40 PM

Well this is my first time breeding so I have NO IDEA what to LOOK FOR.The male stopped breeding her for 4 days now.So I decided to feed her and him.I fed her a small MEDIUM sized rat.She ate it RELUCTANTLY.Usuall she strikes so hard it always makes me jump.I actually thought she was not going to eat it.No strike nothing. It was so small I really think it can't show up at all, anyways I woke up to her looking really PLUMP.Could it be a small ovulation or do you think it was the rat.Thank you for your patience and knowledge.

Tought to say for sure from the pictures, it does look like you have some good swelling going on there though. Sometimes when you feed they will look like they were fed a much larger meal because of the developing folicles(sp?).

I would deffently leave the male in, and see what happens. If he continues to show no interest and she goes into a long shed cycle, then you can be fairly certain this was an ovulation.

ashley, couldnt hurt to put the male back in. one of my male hogs showed no interest in a female for several days a couple weeks ago, she had clearly ovulated. i pulled him and gave him a meal. after a few days i thought "better safe thatn sorry" and put him back in...........and voila!!! thanks for looking, john yocum
